Rectortown, VA

Rectortown is a small community located north of Marshall on Rectortown Road. History has it that George Washington slept there, but apparently did not approve of the local inn which served alcohol, something the straight-laced Washington frowned upon. Far from the raucous place our first president assumed it to be, Rectortown today is a collection of pretty homes, churches and a tiny post office. If you drive through, be sure to observe the reduced speed limit. Those looking for refreshment may visit Vintage Ridge Winery, where local wine is paired with fine morsels. (If George happens to be with your party, there are sodas available, too.)
